Our Mission
The Minnesota HIPAA Collaborative was
formed to help Minnesota providers and health plans achieve timely and
cost-effective implementation of the HIPAA transactions, codes, and
identifier standards (not privacy and security). The Collaborative will promote HIPAA transaction
readiness, identify recommended practices and recommend solutions.
Who We Are
The Minnesota HIPAA Collaborative
consists of Minnesota health plans and providers. The Collaborative is independent and not associated with any professional
organization. Members share operating costs and agree upon
collaborative projects.
The initial collaborative work effort
started with a small group of health care organization so that work
could proceed quickly. Founding members intend to share the tools they
create with the public.
Founding members include:
- Allina Hospitals and Clinics
- Blue Cross and Blue Shield of
Minnesota an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield
Association
- Fairview Health Services
- HealthPartners
- Mayo Clinic
- Medica
- Park Nicollet Health Services
- PreferredOne
Government Participant:

What We Do
The Minnesota HIPAA Collaborative is
focused on developing work products and recommended practices for achieving
HIPAA compliance with transactions, code sets and standard
identifiers. The Collaborative will share these tools with Minnesota's
healthcare community through this public website and communications
program.
Where We Serve
The geographical focus of the
Collaborative is the state of Minnesota and the surrounding areas that
serve Minnesota residents.
How We Work
The Minnesota HIPAA Collaborative grew
out of HIPAA implementation discussions among collaborative members in
2000. CIOs from each Founding Member organization created a steering
committee to set goals and provide resources for achieving those
goals. The operations committee, made up of volunteers from each
Member organization, determines tasks, leads work groups, approves
work products, and makes recommendations to the steering committee.
Workgroups are formed at the direction of the operations committee to
complete specific goals and deliverables.
