  • http://www.cms.hhs.gov/apps/npi/npiviewlet.asp - CMS National Provider Identifier (NPI) Viewlet - This instructional tool provides an overview of the NPI, a walkthrough of the NPI application, as well as live links to the NPPES website where the learner can apply for an NPI. This tool is designed for all health care providers.

  • www.wpc-edi.com/hipaa - Washington Publishing Company - X12N Insurance Industry Implementation Guides. Washington Publishing Company is responsible for the publication of the implementation guides and the data dictionary for the X12N standards implementations that have been proposed for HIPAA compliance activities.
  • http://snip.wedi.org -Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange Strategic National Implementation. WEDI (Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange) is a broad-based industry association that was designated by HIPAA as an advisor to the Secretary of DHHS regarding EDI standards. Its web site includes conferences, health care EDI info, and resources for standard transactions.
  • www.x12.org - Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) X12. The Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) X12 develops standards for cross-industry electronic exchange of business information.
  • www.hl7.org - Health Level Seven is one of several ANSI-accredited Standards Developing Organizations (SDOs) operating in the healthcare arena. Their purpose is to standardize the supplemental healthcare information (claim attachments)
  • www.ncpdp.org/news_hipaa_snip.aspx- >National Council for Prescription Drug programs is a non-profit ANSI-accredited Standards Development Organization consisting of over 1230 members who represent chain and independent pharmacies, consulting companies and pharmacists, database management organizations, federal and state agencies, health insurers, health maintenance organizations, mail service pharmacy companies, pharmaceutical manufacturers, pharmaceutical services administration organizations, prescription service organizations, pharmacy benefit management companies, professional and trade associations, telecommunication and systems vendors, wholesale drug distributors, and other parties interested in electronic standardization within the pharmacy services sector of the health care industry.
  • www.nubc.org - National Uniform Billing Committee. NUBC was formed to develop a single billing form and standard data set that could be used nationwide by institutional providers and payers for handling health care claims. It includes the participation of all the major national provider and payer organizations. NUBC has provided input for the HIPAA transaction standards.
  • www.nucc.org - National Uniform Claim Committee. NUCC is working to improve the handling of claims by reducing the number of attachments required to process claims. Their web site includes links on Administrative Simplification topics, as well as, their answers to Frequently Asked Questions on Administrative Simplification.
  • www.hipaa-dsmo.org - Designated Standards Maintenance Organizations such as NUCC, NUBC, ADA, X12, HL7, NCPDP. Provides links and searches on DSMO information. Allows user to submit questions and see responses.
  • www.rx2000.org - The Rx2000 Institute is non-profit, member-supported, neutral healthcare information clearinghouse and educational organization that provides mission-critical information resource services to the health care community.
